We would like to extend our thanks to everyone for voting us in for the next year. And, I am telling you, we CAN'T wait to get to work.
To last years President Troy Westhaver and Vice President Ivan Uhlman we thank you for your time and committment to the club !
Now that the winter approaches hopefully all the drivers and mechanics will get a chance to rest their bodies away from their trucks and their friends trucks (lol) and just let your minds work on the trucks thinking about next year !!!!!!!!
Talk to you soon....
And, Good luck to the new committee, I definitely look forward to working with you this coming year !
How is everyone enjoying the RAIN that we are supposed to be getting now?????? How do you plan around the weather??? YOU DON'T, is my only answer.
Anyways, at least it all got done yesterday, a little late (if that was in July we would have thought it to be early, at least still daylight).
It was so cold yesterday and we greatly appreciated all who helped with ring crew, 50/50 girls, gate attendants, machine operators, our announcer and our 2 judges (Kenny and Ivan).
Thanks again to the Legion members for having us again this year and for the food (helped keep us warm).
Thanks to Chris and Roger Weare for the use of their skidder yesterday and to Clay Wamboldt for his tractor and Ray Forrest for picking it up and taking it home and finally to the Queens County Fair Association for the use of their 3 point hitch. These pulls would not happen without the help from our community members like we do. THANKS!!!!
And Thank you to everyone who filled out their voting ballots.
I am calling everyone who received a position to confirm their acceptance and as soon as completed I will post them... probably tonight.
Once the first meeting date has been set I will post it and if you should have any other ideas or comments that you would like to have discussed you will have lots of time to get them to a committee member or email them to gethookedtruckpull@hotmail.com or post them right here on the site, with or without your name.
Thanks for the suggestions that have been submitted so far !
They will ALL be addressed at the first meeting.
Last and FINAL Update......... October 16, 2009 at 2:30 pm Friday
Ok,,,, here we go,,,,
We will have to pull all classes on Saturday ... due to weather calling on Sunday. We wouldn't like to take the chance and only get to pull 3 classes this weekend, so we will make it a long one and do it all on Saturday.
IF NEED BE... we will finish up on Sunday morning.
I SINCERELY HOPE THAT THIS DOES NOT CAUSE ANYONE PROBLEMS !!!
All trucks are to report to scale house between 8 - 10 am.
As soon as we are finished weighing trucks we will get right to pulling.
We will pull all classes in together as we do, so this will give you time to change things if you want.
Can only hope for the best for weather tomorrow and see what happens.
If you are not planning on bringing your truck tomorrow but do come to watch can you please report to the announcers booth for your voting ballots ?
I hope that tomorrow will be looked at as one of those days that we just have one helluva of a great time under all the circumstances that has been thrown at us. I know that I am just going to go and bore the guts right out of that blue and white bitch and enjoy every second that I am going to be doing it (even if it is only one round) ..... especially if I can see Chad's face while I am doing it lol...... Let's just go and get crazy !!!!!!!
Hope to see everyone there, especially with rain coats, snow suits, mittens and hats, umbrellas, heaters, and go to the bar and get some of that liquid warming agent !!!!
We need to make Saturday the longer day and Sunday the short day,
due to work, noise and weather.
Also, don't forget that this weekend is the time for voting in the new committee !!!
I will be passing out an envelope at the scale house and inside it will the list of names for voting.
Please pass these in by the end of the day that you are pulling.
Please do not sign your names to the ballots, they are to be confidential.
Vote for yourself and others that you feel will represent you best for the 2009 - 2010 pulling year.
This year we will be voting in a President and 2 vice presidents and 6 committee members, total of 9 members.
There has been incidents at the truck pulls that need decision making at the moment. Instead of trying to gather a whole committee of nine members the president and 2 vice presidents will make the final call at these times with the assistance of the remaining 6 members that are available.
Any questions please ask on the day of the pull or by website or email
Congratulations to all our drivers in the finals, but unfortunately there can only be three top trucks of the year and they are
Andrea Hayward - Ladies
Cory Ryan - Stock
Nathan Forrest - Super Stock
Thanks to all who participated this year and we are all looking forward to next year already (crazy, I know lol) !!!!
Thanks to all who worked this past weekend and to Clay Wamboldt for providing us with a tractor and to Ray Forrest for delivering it and taking it home , thanks guys, lot easier than raking ...
So for October we will be resuming with our Super Stock and Ladies and Diesel on Saturday and Stock and Modified on Sunday, each class will weigh on their specific days.
Weigh in will be from 8 - 10 am sharp,,, no exceptions,,, this is the "fun day" and it will be a long day so we must start right on time or even a little early if possible (lol.... ). Registration is $20.00.
We will be voting on Saturday and Sunday of the pull in October for the new committee.
The new committee will be announced on Monday by website after the individuals are called to confirm they will take a position, same as last year. Please vote, every vote does count.
Okay, can't wait for October and hope everyone can make it !!!!!!!!!
Sorry it took me a couple of days to get the numbers posted, I was busy trying to rig my name into the top four girls .... lol so hard... but as you noticed.. I am NOT that smart.......
A HUGE congratulations goes first to Andrea Hayward for having the MOST points for the whole year out of all three classes. Her total for the year was 6.77 %... Awesome Andrea and WE ALL congratulate you.

September 12, 2009 is the date for the finals.
The registration is $20.00.
Weigh in will be from 9 - 10 am.
The pulling event will be from 11 - 5 approx.
To celebrate another successful year the club will be hosting a supper and dance after the pull off for all drivers (and a guest) of 2009.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there !!!
More info will follow in the days to come concerning the pull off.
I am sure on behalf of EVERYONE I can thank South Shore In Motion for the weekend that we just had. It was definitely one of the best weekends for pulling, I think that not a person can complain about how their trucks worked this weekend. Everyone did fantastic !!! It was a pleasure to watch each and every one... especially that red and white one, not mentioning any names.. Tracey and Shannon (smiling). However, I am sure that I am not the only one that had a favorite this weekend, they were all working wickedly nice and I would not have wanted to pick one from the lot. Anybody have favorites post it on the comment board, everyone must have had one or two or three or a dozen that they liked this weekend??? Tell the drivers, I am sure that they would like to hear it.
Next, I would like to apologize to Darren and his committee for taking so long to finish the truck pull. We had no idea how the chain of events would play out. The club will be under advisement as to ways to shorten the event and already ideas have been submitted. So we do sincerely apologize to your organization and hope that you will consider us again next year for your outstanding weekend.
I would like to extend an apology also to Wilfred and Nicky Corkum and the whole diesel class for not being able to finish out the pull on Sunday due to time factor. We will have the kinks worked out for you next time and we will be looking forward to a rematch of the diesels to see what the big loads will be that they haul !!! We also thank the diesel class participants that returned their prize/registration money to be put in the pool for their next pull, so their prize money will be doubled !!!
Lastly, thanks to everyone (drivers, spectators, South Shore in Motion Committee, The Town of Bridgewater, Ivan Uhlman, Kenny Mansfield, Lucas Smith, Robbie Lowe, Vernon (the main man from the ex grounds), Cheryl Conway, Patty Mansfield and all the drag hookers), without you there would have been no pulling event this weekend that was as wonderful as it could be !!!!
Thanks to all....
Sincerely,
Tammy
PS #1 I have prize money yet for Rachel Fancy and Shannon Daniels and Freddie Franklyn.
PS #2 You know the rules (smiling) ... PLEASE check over my numbers and add anything up and let me know if it is wrong. The results for the Top trucks will be official on August 17th, 2009, if there are no mistakes found. Thanks for helping with the adding and keeping me straight.
Hope everyone had a fun time at the pull this weekend, even though the weather people keep calling for rain on the pull days we don't get it, the weather has been good to us.... I guess
Wasn't looking too promising for a pull this weekend with all the rain we got this week though and that poor track was a mud hole... I know some you would have had a helluva time on it. But, we can't ruin the good work by Peter Waterman and his grading .. so we had to behave ourselves lol.
All worked out in the end.
All the results are posted and as usual check them over and do the additions and let me know by comment board or email me at
gethookedtruckpull@hotmail.com
so I can fix it.
Less than two weeks to go for our final set of points to determine the top trucks for this year.
Weigh in for the South Shore in Motion is from 8:00 am to 10:00 on Saturday. We will be pulling from 11:00 to approx. 5:00 pm on Saturday and 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm on Sunday to finish up the placings.
All classes (stock, super stock, ladies, diesel, modified) will be pulling together starting on Saturday and finishing on Sunday.
Registration is $20.00.
You are allowed a co-pilot through the admission gate with you under your $20.00 registration fee.
We will be voting for a new committee soon and I thank everyone who submitted their name for the list to be voted on. It is nice to see so many people want to work on the committee to make this happen.... so keep your eyes and ears open and make sure to fill out your ballot when the time comes, every vote counts.
I have two sponsors left to make contact with then the prize list for the finals can be posted. So it will be this week. This is the time of year for vacations and we keep hitting and missing the managers/owners.
See ya in August....
Tammy
PS Bring some extra tires for the Burnout pad,,,,, show em what ya got !
After the pull on July 25 there will be MARK CAMERON singing at the Exhibition grounds from 9 - 12 that night. The admission is $10.00 and there will be camping available as well for $10.00 per trailer. Should be lots of fun !!!
Last Update - July 18, 2009
Only one more week to go !!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait, same as everyone else I am sure ....
Please don't forget that the STOCK and DIESEL and MODIFIED are pulling on Sunday.
The Super Stock and Ladies are pulling on Saturday only.
For the Bridgewater pull on August 8 and 9 the information is posted under the "Pull Dates" page. Everyone will be pulling at the same time on these dates, same as we have been doing.
Only classes in Caledonia pulls are going to be split now on different days starting in July. Hopefully this will simplify things... all we can do is try.
See ya next weekend... Don't forget that Yellow is our color this month...
Bring our Troops Home !!!!!
The pictures are posted and hope that you enjoy... and no there is not 500 of them there,,, didn't realize how many that is lol.
Saturday July 25 - Super Stock and ladies
Sunday July 26 - Modified, Diesel and Stock
Drive shaft restraints mandatory.
The color of the month will be YELLOW - for the TROOPS -.... Hope everyone supports... and again looking forward to yours Janie !
Been working on the prize list for September ... hopefully have a good idea for the July pull. Can't believe how fast the time, and these pulls, are coming and going.
Been wanting to throw a big thanks and a job well done to Ivan and Kenny for Judging... So thanks Guys... oh, by the way, who is judging the ladies on Saturday??? Need to know who's palm to grease (If the truck stays together long enough to get that far lol) Thanks for a job well done !!!
Weigh in from 8 - 10 am Saturday and Sunday
Pulling at 11:00 am.
We all hope that everyone had fun.
Seemed to be a good weekend !!!
The Committee and Legion members thanks all the children for staying with adults and keeping off the track. We all just want to keep it safe, so thank you very much.
The Committee also wants a HUGE thanks sent out to Carrie Delong and her two girls for all the work that they do with the children's events. There is a lot of time, work and thought put into this from Carrie and I know from listening to the children and PARENTS that it is greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the work, Carrie and Girls, and anything else you need let us know please. Can't wait to see that big project you are working on next month.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to Donna and Gilford for spending the weekend with us. We know that there are probably other things that you could be doing (smiling... pool..) and we so thank you for taking the time and helping us.
Our gate keepers, Mike and Liz, thanks for sitting in that nice booth (made and donated by Hubert Wareham) for 2 days and a REAL big thanks for the paperwork being done so punctual !!!
And for our faithful donation from Shawn and Brenda Rawding for the Backhoe we can't thank you enough. But, we'll say it anyways.. THANKS again for the backhoe this summer... sure makes the fun a lot easier !!!!
And last, but not least, thanks to all those fella's out there on the weekend hooking, loading drags, judging and raking and scraping the track, we know who you are......... thanks for all the work !!!!!!!
Well, all the results have been posted.
If there are any mistakes (and probably there are), please let me know right away by the comment board or email me at
gethookedtruckpull@hotmail.com
so that they can be fixed right away. The trucks that have just joined the points in June don't forget that your placings will be low for now because you only have this one percentage where as the other drivers have had 2 percentages... it will work itself out at the 3rd number.
Please don't forget about the driveshaft loops for July.
Also, in July the superstock and ladies will be pulling on Saturday and the stock and diesel and modified will be pulling on Sunday.
Weigh in will be from 8 - 10 each day.
Pulling will start at 11:00 each day.
This will allow each class to finish on their day and will not have to travel the second day. It should make it easier for everyone and drivers will get to pull more frequently.
Thanks to all drivers for making this a successful weekend and looking forward already to July !!!!!!
Tammy
PS: Thanks to all legion members for helping with gating off the facilities it worked much smoother !!!
Well, as everyone probably knows, sounds like shitty weather this weekend ! Oh Well.
The committee was put in place as an avenue for pullers and spectators to voice their concerns and ideas.
With that being said, there was an idea to just weigh the trucks starting in June. The idea was thought to be more fair to all drivers. Sometimes a driver can't make it to weigh in and therefor in a case like that, anyone could bring your truck and weigh it and would not make any difference, because we are just weighing "the truck". Since this rule there has been many calls and opinions from drivers on this matter and the decision has been reversed.
The driver will weigh with the trucks as it has been in the past.
The girls will also have to weigh with their trucks as well.
So ladies please come to the scale house to weigh in with your trucks.
The issue with the starting weight will be addressed. It was stated in coversation at the annual meeting in March that the weight of the starting load will be shifted around a bit in order to shake up the percentages a tad. The committee will do a test weight before the pull begins to make sure that the load will not be too heavy as a starting weight. For this pull 7400 lb will be the test.
As stated before, the committee was voted by you and will continue to be voted by you. We are working for you and the best interests of the truck pulls. If you have questions or ideas or concerns please continue to address them. These pulling events can only become better with open ears and minds. New things will need to be tried and tested to see what works and what doesn't. Harsh words and comments really doesn't help anyone to achieve this.
We thank you for all that is said and we will continue to try to do what is best for this club and you.
Boys I tell you anyone still dealing with "slow speed" has got some good nerves (or none at all ... like me).
Color for JUNE is RED............. We think that it is close enough to Canada Day to have some fun with it... so bring some flags or wear some red, or do something creative (Looking forward to yours there Janie .. smiling), and drop your name in the basket in the legion and let's see who wins this month...... thanks to everyone last month that supported Breast Cancer Awareness,,, it was great to see all the pink and thanks to Evan Uhlman who donated $20.00 and David Simpson who donated $60.00 to this worthwhile cause !!! Congratulations to Brett Uhlman who won the free passes to a truck pull and the Breast Cancer Cookbook and the Breast Cancer Bingo Dabber... hope you enjoy Brett !!!
The meeting on Sunday brought to light a few little changes to help improve the pulling events...
1. There will be a 3 minute time limit to hook your truck to the drag on your first attempt. When you START backing onto the track, your time will begin.
2. At the weigh in,,,, ONLY the truck will be weighed. Drivers and passengers are asked to step out of the vehicle during weigh in.
3. If we receive permission from the Department of Highways (I will check on this Tuesday), we will be weighing the modified trucks in on Sunday June 28 from 9 - 10 am sharp.... no exceptions. The diesel trucks may weigh in at this time as well. The load will be dropped back to the start weight to catch the modified and diesel trucks up to the rest of the classes and we will commence pulling the final trucks at this time. Pulling on Sunday will begin for the modified and diesels at 11:00.
This should take about an hour or so to get up to speed with the remaining trucks.
4.The starting load on June 27, 2009 will be 7400 lb.
5. For the July pull we are going to try something a little different to see how spectators and drivers feel about it...
We will be pulling the SUPER STOCK and LADIES class on Saturday and the STOCK, DIESEL, MODIFIED on Sunday. We hope that this will make it more interesting for the drivers in the fact that you won't have as a long a wait to pull and you will be able to finish pulling in the same day. We hope that the spectators will find it more entertaining as well.
6. There are concerns regarding the amount of liquor being consumed outside the snow fence area. Please refrain from this activity. There are alcholic beverages being served at the facilities which may be consumed within the snow fence area, so you don't miss the pulling action. We thank you for your attention concerning this.
7. Children are to be kept behind the fenced area. Please make sure children are with adult supervision while sitting with your trucks. If children are in the pulling area during pulling times, the pull will be stopped until all children are removed from the area and the judge is satisfied.
8. There will be no trucks parked at the end of the pulling area. This area will be marked off for safety reasons.
9. From the July pull, and on, drive shaft restraints will be enforced. Any questions concerning this may be addressed to Kenny Mansfield at the June pull, he will be able to assist you.
We thank everyone for the continued success and support of the truck pulls... let's continue to make fun and safety number 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
See ya soon !!!!
Tammy
PS: Earl Knox confirmed his sponsorship today of $500.00 in COLD HARD CASH for the finals !!!!!!! Thanks Mr. Knox !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I FINALLY got the pictures there... easier than I thought.
So Cheryl said that she is taking 500 pictures at the June Pull !!!!
I will post every single one of them too !!!
Hope everyone is getting ready, where did the month go??????
Working on trucks, I guess.
We are having a comittee meeting before the June Pull, I will post the minutes from this meeting on Monday June 22, 2009, incase there is something new going on. The awareness for the month will be notified on Monday June 22, as well. We will be a little quicker next time (I think???) Time is going SO FAST !
So long...
Tammy
Last Update - June 1, 2009
Is it June 27 YET????????????????
Hope everyone had a great time on the weekend... weather was better
than planned for Saturday, thank goodness and Sunday couldn't have been any better ! Cindy your "special" non-rain dance must have paid off, do it again on June 26. lol.
The points and results are posted.
Please check over your score and just to confirm that everthing is correct.
If mistakes are found early, all the better. Please let me know if there are any. Thanks.
I am working on a plan for the next pull to help with drivers wanting to know where they are placing as we go along during the day. It keeps it more interesting for the driver if you know that you only need that "next load" to give you 1st or 2nd. So, we'll give it a whirl and see what we can for that.
It was nice to see so many trucks out for the weekend, along with quite a few different ones at that, and rumor has it that there are a couple more coming in June, so we welcome them too.
Would like to send out a great big thanks to Shawn and Brenda Rawding for their back hoe again this summer, to David Freeman (President of the QC Fair) for the use of the three point hitch to help with the track, the Department of Highways for allowing us to use their premises, Pleasantville Signs for all the signs and decals and posters that you see at the yard (and Rob says he'll bring more as we think of them !!!), to Gilford and Donna for spending the weekends with us and Cheryl for making all that dough for everyone on the 50/50 tickets (you go girl lol), and to Ivan our Judge for spending time on that track for two days straight doing the happy dances (but what a great place to be) !!! Great Job Ivan !!!
Don't forget about ording your t-shirts from Bo and Trudy.
They are really nice (perfect pink ... smiling) there is grey too of course for the boys, and they are selling fast ! Children's sizes are available too.
Thanks to Hubert Wareham for building that nice booth for the workers, they said it was PERFECT....
We will be building a couple of bleachers before the pull in May.
I will post here when everyone let's me know when and where, so please check back if you will be able to help for a day.
I have updated the dates and new points and a couple of other things so hopefully everything is a bit clearer.
I hear there are a couple of different trucks coming this year !!!
Can't wait to see them and hope that they enjoy the group !!!
Looking forward to may 30 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carrie if you need some supplies let me know please what the committee can do to help you ......
Donna, do you and Gilford have any last requests before May?????
I'll see if I can pull a few strings lol.... we bought you a PA system and I am getting you a BRAND NEW MIC !!! (one with a shut off button so you don't get us into too much trouble lol)
Thanks to everyone for coming to the meeting yesterday.
Hopefully, everyone is satisfied with the up and coming pulling year.
Here are the minutes for yesterday's meeting:
Meeting was brought to order at 1:00 pm at the North Brookfield Hall in North Brookfield with 29 members in attendance.
The committee would like to extend a special thanks to Lori Uhlman and Sheri Mansfield for their work over the past year on the committee. They have resigned this year but promises us to help out when needed.
Thanks Ladies !
Standing in their places will be Trudy Freeman, Danielle Wamboldt and Bobbi-Jo Westhaver. We welcome you to the committee and look forward to working with you this year.
The rules for 2009 were discussed and all agreed to pass them.
They were signed off by President Troy Westhaver, and will be your pulling rules for 2009. The rules can be found on the website under "Rules and Spec's for Trucks".
The points system will be your percentages added together this year from May, June, July and August pulls. Your lowest percentage will be eliminated. The top 8 from the Stock and the top 8 for the Super Stock will pull off in each of their own categories. There will be 4 ladies pulling against each other this year for their top truck and there will be modifieds doing the same as well. The number of modifieds pulling in the finals will be determined after the May pull when they have registered. There will be a prize this year for the highest percents totalled of the year for each division. Prizes for the finals have yet to be determined, but hopefully will be completed by the first pull, there they will be announced.
To register in the "Points System" this year it has increased to $15.00, for a one time fee. This fee will be used to help off set the expenses for the finals in September of insurance, prizes, trophies, awards and banquet, fuel, etc.
The pulling events will be $20.00 per driver/truck. So for the first pull it will be $20.00 for your pulling event and $15.00 to register your truck for the "points system", if you choose to join. You may join the points in May or June.
There will be the purchase of an awning for Donna for the May Pull.
Maybe we can throw in an air conditioner for the August Pull???
Anybody got a fan ?? lol
Voting for the new committee will take place at the October pull 2009 at the last truck pull. Voting will take place every two years. If a member should decide to resign before the two years are up, the committee will nominate and vote in replacements until re-election.
Troy asked Ray if he would be interested in Judging the modified trucks at the pulls. Ray said that he would give this some consideration and get back with his thoughts.
Ray suggested about Bowaters donating some lumber to make our benches/tables out of. Carrie Delong will ask Carl Carver about this and get back to us on this topic.
David Delong mentioned for safety reasons that we should keep the end of the track clear of all trucks. This was agreed by all.
Troy and Tammy will go to legion meeting to discuss parking on premises and to see if maybe it can be extended. A letter will be sent to the Queens County Fair concerning the use of the land across the road for parking as well.
In the event cancellation due to rain the decision will be posted on website the night before.
It was suggested that maybe the heavier trucks not pull for the first couple of rounds to see if we can shed some time. We will need to help shave time so that we can keep the track graded after each truck from the 3rd round and on. We will give it a test run in May.
Ivan and Kenny will be the official inspectors for the trucks when dividing into appropriate categories at the May pull. Please be informed as to which class you are interested in joining. You may switch classes later, but as the same as last year, you will lose your "points" (percentages" and need to start over.
Leveling of the track will take place at the beginning of the 3rd round and will be done so for each truck.
It has been decided to have sub committees this year. Hopefully, you will be able to lend when available.
There will be one heavy load prize for each pull this year.
For trophies this year, we are changing it up a bit. There will be a large plaque made and hanging in the community for all to see. It will contain the winners of the past pulls up to present. We wi ll keep it updated after each pulling event for all to appreciate. There will a "special" sticker/emblem designed for the top 3 places of each pulling class instead of trophies. Maybe these can be placed in your truck windows as momentums? (Advantage,,,, do not need to dust them lol). However, there will be trophies for the finals in September.
Drivers will draw for positions at the weigh house.
From these positions your name will be placed in order and posted on a board at the grounds. After each driver is eliminated that name will be removed and you can keep updated if necessary of the status of your position from this board. Donna will announce your name as well.
Times for weigh in will be kept the same for 2009.
Weigh in at 8 - 10 am SHARP
Pull starts 11:00 am Saturday and 12 noon on Sunday.
There will be bleachers/benches/picnic tables being made for this spring. You will be notified of the date for building (or in my case "passing the nails") as soon as it has been arranged. We would like to extend a grateful thanks to Ray Forrest for donating his garage facilities to build this items in (and I think that he donated his two boys too??? lol) Carrie Delong has offered to speak with a couple of individuals concerning the donation of some lumber and when she hears from them, the word will be passed on immediately. Thanks in advance Carrie for this big job !
Speaking of Carrie, she has wonderfully obliged to take on the task again of "Children's Events" for this year. God Bless You. So if she needs help please give her a hand, and Carrie make sure you line up some others to help so that you can pull and have fun too !
If Shawn Rawding is able to donate his back hoe again this year for the 5 pulls we are having a professional sign made PLEASANTVILLE SIGNS to advertise his name here in Caledonia and Bridgewater. We will also work out a fee for the use of the machine... and driver.
Pull dates
May 30
June 27
July 25
August 8 & 9 (Bridgewater)
September 12 (Finals)
